Keegan Kelly is a junior finance major at James Madison University. He is very interested and involved in the e-commerce industry for Madison Venture Group. He strives to learn about the venture capital world, focusing much of his efforts in the e-commerce sector. Outside of Madison Venture Group, Keegan is an active member of James Madison Club Ice Hockey and Club Baseball, and will be treasurer of Club Ice Hockey for the 2017-2018 school year.
Ryan Fassett is a junior Finance major and CIS minor at James Madison University. He does research and focuses in the consumer tech industry for MVG, where he enjoys learning about the different methods for how startups are valued before they go public in the market. Ryan is also involved in the FMA, honor council, and is in a social fraternity at JMU. In his free time, he enjoys playing pickup sports with friends and watching Netflix.
Austin Jones is a Class of 2020 economics major and math minor, with a concentration in international economics. He closely monitors the market, specifically the energy sector. For Madison Venture Group he works in energy and industrials, focused on clean technology. He was also a member of the 2017 UVA competition team. Outside of Madison Venture Group Austin is an analyst for the Phi Chi Theta Investment Fund. His interests include astronomy and clean technology.
Sam Stein is a senior Finance Major and CIS minor. He is an entrepreneurial minded thinker who constantly seeks innovative ways to approach problems. He started Groomed Lawn Care in high school and steadily grew the company until heading to college. He enjoys spending time reading about startups and advances in the fintech industry. He also enjoys surfing and golf.
Connor Haupt is a Junior Finance major at James Madison University. Connor has a passion for the fin tech industry specifically in cryptocurrencies and blockchain startups. He recently worked with Nextgen venture capital firm, and is is going to do a financial internship with US fitness the summer of 2017. He is currently the internal auditor for the Pi Sigma Epsilon professional business fraternity, and is an active member in the Financial Management Association. He spends his free time attending speaker series, seminars, and experiential learning trips to gain knowledge outside of the classroom.
Toby Appleton is a senior at James Madison University, studying finance with a CIS minor. Toby has a passion for business development and enjoys researching methods to create long term value for clients. Originally from Sandbach, England, Toby came to JMU to play for the varsity Men’s Soccer Team and has started in over 50 games since his Sophomore year. In his spare time Toby enjoys watching Rugby and Cricket, with the England national teams being his favourite to watch.
Nakul Kurane is a graduating Information Systems student and a serial entrepreneur focused on providing technology solutions, insofar social networking and e-commerce. He is currently a Regional Manager for Tradeversity, a startup aiming to connect college students in an exclusive marketplace for products and services. In the scope of MVG, he is interested in the nexus of finance and technology, intrigued by blockchain technology and its applications. Outside undergraduate work, he enjoys performing arts like singing and dancing.
Farshid is a Junior studying Quantitative Finance at James Madison University. He has a deep passion for the market and specifically enjoys the energy sector. He leads market discussions for the organization, with an emphasis in natural gas and oil. Outside of the Madison Venture Group, Farshid has written articles for the Financial Management Association, as well as coxed for the James Madison Rowing team. In his free time, he loves to read and play the piano.
Collin Buckley is a Junior Finance major and a Computer Information Systems minor at James Madison University. Collin’s interests lie in the field of fin tech specifically in wealth management as well as international finance. Recently, he studied abroad in Greece and worked at Center Mark Mediation LLC as a sales intern where he researched target markets and analyzed data to create marketing plans. Collin plans to work at Boeing this summer as a project management intern, and then plans to study abroad in Antwerp, Belgium in the Fall Semester. Collin is currently the President of the Madison Economics Club and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He spends his free time going on experiential learning trips, reading and traveling.
Nolan Petty is a Junior Finance major and Business Analytics minor at James Madison University with a passion for fin tech specifically Digital Wealth Management. He recently worked for a up and coming aquaculture company, Hollywood Oyster company and participated in developing an inventory management system. He is currently the Vice President of Finance in Sigma Phi Epsilon and an active member in the Financial Management Association. He spends his free time attending speaker series, seminars, and experiential learning trips to gain knowledge outside of the classroom.
Sina Shahcheraghi is a junior studying Computer Information Systems with a concentration in TIE (Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship). With a passion for e-commerce and social media platforms within the consumer sector, he founded an online clothing brand, 95 to Infinity LLC, defining its legal structure and managing all financial activities and reporting, heavily utilizing social media to drive the majority of sales, and taught himself to build the company’s website.
Wyatt Weston is a philosophy major at James Madison University, he has interest in the fields of biomedical, finance, industry, and other similar areas. He has competed at and won top hardware in the JMU Bluestone Hackathon working with his partner on a new design for heart valves. Additionally he is involved in the venture capital aspect of entrepreneurship through his work to help start the Madison Venture Group, the first venture capital organization at James Madison University.
Fabrice Mulumba is a jr. CIS Major and focused on consumer tech, specifically AR and VR. He began to teach himself programming in high school and has focused on mobile app development ever since. With recommendations from friends and developers, he also received experience in both front and backend web development his sophomore year of college. After becoming part of MVG, he began to receive mentorship from Don in the importance of active management and clear structure in a business. He founded his own startup , Arena LLC, and currently plans to launch the app MyArena in Spring 2017. Winner of the Fall 2016 Madison Catalyst Startup Pitch Competition.
Professor Rubin serves as a professor in the College of Business at James Madison University and is the faculty adviser for Madison Venture Group. He brings 25 years of experience for the organization to draw on.
Mark Modica has spent the majority of his career helping to fund, grow and operate venture funded technology companies. From vision to the bottom line, he has guided, coached, raised capital, or held finance, operating or sales roles at over 100 technology companies during the past 20 years. Mr. Modica has raised over $500M in debt and equity, worked with over 50 venture capital and private equity firms, and has taken 2 companies public. He has also served on the Board or Board of Advisors of several technology companies. Mark was also a partner in a venture fund, Avansis Ventures, and raised venture capital for his own startup, CyberCFO, a company that served the venture community. His finance and operating experience has been and is with companies that are at the center of the four markets that are revolutionizing business: cloud computing, big data analytics, mobility and security.
Kyle is the Founder & General Partner of Arab Angel Fund, a $25M early-stage venture capital fund. AAF has a portfolio of 30+ venture backed starts up and has co-invested with a number of Tier I VC firms including NEA, 8VC, A16z, KPCB, Greylock, SV Angel, Y Combinator, and others. Kyle is an established international business expansion and marketing professional with over 7 years of experience in working with early stage and digital companies on development, expansion, and branding initiatives. He has spent the last 3 three years of his career at the UAE Embassy in Washington DC’s Trade & Commercial Office where he has spearheaded a diverse range of portfolio verticals including start ups, venture capital, private equity, media, retail, entertainment, sports, renewable energy, and healthcare, among others. Prior to that he worked with the largest early stage retail development firm in the world as Director of Development for the GCC. His understanding and connectivity in the GCC in both public and private sectors is unparalleled and uniquely positions him as an ideal expert in the examination and selection of companies that are viable for growth in the market. Kyle holds a Bachelors from James Madison University and a Master in Strategic Marketing & Digital Media from Georgetown University
Don Le is an Investment Analyst at Blue Delta Capital Partners, a growth equity firm focused on the worlds largest technology market, the $100B+ per year US GovTech industry. His focus is on data analytics, cybersecurity, and healthcare IT.
Prior to joining Blue Delta, Don worked with NextGen Venture Partners, assisting with the scale of their portfolio companies, as well as private equity firm Oaktree Development, where he performed due diligence on over $60 million of deals in the Mid-Atlantic and worked on the formation of a private REIT.
Mr. Le is the founder of Madison Venture Group and served as the clubs first president, playing a major role in the early growth of the club and cultivating key partnerships with partner firms.
He graduated with honors from James Madison University, earning a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance.
